Building weeks Day 9

Party or as we name it Bucky Borrel

With the students rushing towards their finish line, its also time to celebrate their amazing accomplishments. Dr. Bucky throws a few bags of ice cubes over the beverages and gives the hotdogs a well deserved hot bath…simple but if you are as hungry as a lion after two weeks of hard building
this is what you need.

While the 3TU lightvan group still finished a couple of handles and locks the rest already started to
enjoy the evening. Even Bart de Groot from Walko our beloved workbenches and Frans van Dijk from  festool joined for a chat and were amazed by the work the students had done.

And at the end of the evening it was clear why the lightvan team was unstoppable, they already used the desk in the van for a chat with the parents and a cold beer ….

enough of the words, here some pictures.

Building weeks Day 8

1 and a half days to go …so we are nearly there, and as usual it seems that the old saying: how long do we need ? As long as we have the time to do it! - is right again. Most of the projects will be ready, or at least brought to a point where no more power tools are needed.

Today we had a visit from the members of the RWS coastal living group and the members were amazed by the passion the students put into their projects, showing very detailed concepts that allow a vivid discussion about the concepts.

A special appreciation to the guys of the sand brick group, that makes our Dr. Bucky Lab very proud - did you know that he is a master bricklayer ?

The lightvan is coming together more and more and tomorrow the last finishing touches has to be made.
Up to now it looks like we are able to complete it also.

Yesterday we also received a last shipment of honeycomb cardboard, quite amazing how light and strong these plates are.

Tomorrow we will have our bucky borrel, our party at the end of the building weeks, so we may already apologise if we are not able writing the blog tomorrow night ….

Building weeks Day 7

Details, lots of Details

we started the second week of our building weeks and after the absence of Dr. Bucky Lab a lot of things happened …today we were able to see more and more projects coming together. So its time to
honour the students with a few details we have taken during the day …not that looking at students with tools might become boring, but a little twist is always nice …

by the way we already installed the first cabinet in the lightvan, tomorrow more about that …

Building weeks Day 6

Last day of first building week...

Our Dr. Bucky Lab was hit by a massive strike of the common cold and had to stay at home.

Most of the cardboard structures are ready to be erected at the beginning of the next week.

Then we also expect another truckload of cardboard.

The Lightvan expert finished his job. Car looks now glamorous.

Sometimes sewing might be a difficult job, especially when you try to fiddle the treat into the eye of the needle while everyone is trying to encourage you.

In one moment we thought that some monster visited us but that was just a suit to protect cutting the the old boats parts with a water cooled diamond cutter.

New shelfs are ready to be installed in the Lighvan, our student assistant Coen, made a great job mastering the new festool conturo.

Cleaning the workshop went very smoothly, because everyone wanted to go back home to have a rest after long, busy but so exciting week.

See you all back on monday
