Semesterstart

Today we started our new Bucky Lab semester, with officially 72 students on the list, the group is bigger than even before ...

Due to this fact we also had to move to the orange hall, quite a treat to open the semester in the location we are usually only using for our finals.

This semster we will put our hands on a beachpavillion for the Oerol festival in Terschelling , a project in cooperation with Rijkswaterstaat, we will develop cardboard shelters with our own cardboard expert Jerzy Latka and a couple of students will transform a Mercedes Sprinter into our new 3TU lightvan...a mobile light laboratory ...yes we will pimp a truck ...

Sor far for now, tomorrow we have to split up into groups and start the most exciting semester ...

 

 

Licht 2014 Workshop

What a day…

stuffing 6 Bucky Lab prototypes in the back of our car and meeting the experts of the Licht2014 symposium in Den Haag….

We did the last semester in cooperation with NSVV in preparation to join the Licht2014 event in Den Haag, today was the final day and we had a nice workshop with a group of experts. After a short introduction of the Bucky Lab we invited the guests to have a discussion with our students about their projects. Each of the guests were able to give a feedback via a sticker and after an hour all the projects charts were filled up with coloured dots.

A nice wrap up at the end of the session made clear that everyone loved the projects and were amazed about the innovative spirit the students. Also it was clear that the more simple projects seemed to be easier to implement than the more complex ideas.

We had a great day and the smile of the students showed that they enjoyed the discussions and admiration of the guests, its quite a rare opportunity for us to have a discussion about our concepts with a group of experts.

We would like to thank especially Paul Settels for the invitation and of course the team behind him from the NSVV and the Stichting Living Daylight.

Projects in a box

We got an invitation to speak in Vienna / Austria during the Energie and Architecture session organized from the austrian journal energie: bau.

Not only Dr. Bucky Lab was invited to speak there but also two models ...to join the event ...so we had to build a box to ship the two models safely to Vienna ...oh cross fingers.

a short update

This semster starts different then the others before.... we actually pulled paralell running courses out of each other which will allow us to work more focussed in the bucky lab starting in October.

Up to now we have quite a nice mix of projects on the table. While a few are still in discussion we are proud to announce that we are doing a cardboard project with our phd researcher Jerzy Latka and we will also put our hands on a truck that will be transformed into a mobile daylight laboratory ... as you can see already quite a nice set up ...cross fingers for more to come.
