at the end of a workshop the projects shine the most, thats what the press is triggered by and of course with such wonderful results we are all happy.
But in the center of the workshop are always the students, they imagined and made it. They discussed, adapted, struggled, improved and learned ...in an intense but playful manner which will create new skills in all aspects within their chosen profession.
Thanks for joining us ! You are the best !
and of course, not complete ...
this blog is dedicated to the Bucky Lab from the TU Delft faculty of Architecture. Within the mastercourse we design, develop and at the end build architecture and building construction related prototypes. Its a "get your hands dirty" approach in which the students learn how to translate concepts from sketch into working prototypes. We try to live the spirit of buckminster fuller: what ever you can imagine, you can also build!

Summer School Wroclaw - Day 14 - Press conference
We came back early and served breakfast ... the students had a short but wonderful night in their pavilions. Today the last point in our program was a press conference and in a sudden several press teams arrived took pictures, shoot videos and made interview, quite a sureal scene honestly ....
after the media trouble left we cleaned the shop had our last lunch and said goodby ...
Goodby ...yes its the last time we all met each other. No more coffee making rituals in the morning, nor the funny taxi or bus ride, no more fun with students and tools, no more wonderful chats, discussions and shared memories about things happend, no more smiling faces, pings that call for lunch ...oh lovely lunch !
Honestly I did not had a clue what will awaits me. Packing a truck with tools leaving for Poland to build Living labs with a bunch of dutch and polish students ...
Now I can only say this was one of the most intense workshops I have joined til now, the atmosphere was amazing, the location great and the organization perfect.
Thanks to the students, and especially to Jerzy Latka who made all of this happen and of course the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology for making it possible ! And personally thanks to Joanna Pajak for the warm welcome.
I will miss you !

Summer School Wroclaw - Day 13 - Finals
for some reason we havent been able to report directly at the end of the day ....so the happenings of day 13 with a bit of a delay and hangover ...
Quite a day which started very slowly, but with the sun burning early. The press arrived around lunch time and stopped us all due to noise problems...so we had a longer coffee break, then piece by piece we moved every pavilion out on to our runway and then the students disappeared, only shortly to come back dressed for what could only be described as a burning night ....
in short we welcomed a couple of guests from the Wroclaw university, we had a lecture of our Dr. Bucky Lab in the kitchen, build a wooden barbecue, made a fire and enjoyed the national cuisine as also their favorite beverages ...and danced into the night
While a few left, the others slept in their pavilions ...great day, damn mosquitos ...

Summer School Wroclaw - Day12 - Orange
Second to last day - finishing mode to describe it shortly. All of our living units are nearly done and you can see smiling students everywhere an Paulina welcomed us as a summer queen.
The house of cards team is still unstoppable and is placing protective layers on the honeycomb panels, impregnating cardboard profiles, cutting elements and still in a great mood, even when its clear right now that they will not be able to finish the entire pavilion till tomorrow.
The shear amount of different elements and steps that will shape this cardboard pavilion is just a bit too much, if the parts have been already be in the workshop on time it would have been done. Such a pity but the passion the entire group put into this project is amazing !
The staircase group put some paint on their structure, Jeroen is preparing for some bad weather and is the hero behind the sewing machine, Suzanne is starting a bag shop, Marcel showed how many tools you can use to build round window frames and our coffee corner is still the best place to talk tools, details and whats going on in the other groups...
And not to forget : We had another birthday kid : Xiangyu turned 25 and got a birthday cake and and was celebrated with a chorus of celebrative songs. Happy Birthday !
