Campfire and CRH lecture

In the beginning of the semester we have a campfire, not a real fire of course but our way to get in touch with our new students around an imaginary campfire.

With a group of 77 from all over the world our introduction round was very interesting, we have students who lived their entire life in the desert, some already have experience in the office, many love sports, traveling or making music and we also have students who are experienced in the art of Origami - for sure handy for this years assignment.

And our assignment was also the topic after lunch. Our partner for this semesters is CRH a huge international company who supports the entire building sector. The CRH group is busy in the field of producing building materials in all kinds of scales from producing concrete till highly sophisticated sun shading and they also own gamma and Karwei, so they also provide the end user.

So we welcomed Marcel and Kees-Jan to represent CRH and Sunstock one of the companies within the group that are dealing with sunshades. This semester we will tackle the dutch sun shade market and especially terrace shadings.

After a proper introduction of the CRH group itself they narrowed the topic down to the different sunshading products and asked for our of the box ideas to increase their product portfolio. After the very informative lectures we had a Q&A session and ended the day in the studio on behalf of an invitation of BOUT our student association with a pizza and a drink. A perfect end for an already busy week. Good pizza by the way as you can see on Marcels smile ...

Here a few impressions of the day.

Bucky Lab Day 1 - semsterstart

Just back from far far away and our new semester already started ...with 78 students in total quite a big group.

After an introduction from our dean in the Aula and a short intro about a workshop after lunch we guided our students to a lecture room at Industrial Design to give a proper intro about the BT master and the Bucky Lab. After the lunch we met in our own studio space to start a workshop.

The entire faculty will do a 3 days workshop in the name of ethics and today we talked about intercultural communications - who would have thought that diving into statistics about the cultural differences would be so interesting - everyone was involved in discussions - the best way to get to know each other.

Here some impressions of the day
