Ui, and in a sudden everything happened at the same moment ....thats at least how we experienced it today. We went to our building site, an old industrial hall in the polish wilderness ...ok lets call it outskirts but it feels quite remote ....
We first cleaned the floor, set up the workshop and then everything happened so fast, truck after truck arrived and delivered cardboard, plywood, glue, timber and then after a proper introduction on safety and the use of the tools ...I actually missed Frans and his colleagues from festool helping me to train our students ...but went well...we could see the productions running fast. Sheets were cut, templates made, corners sanded, surfaces smoothed, paper glued and fold, and pictures taken from students taking pictures from students who cut wood ...
Then silence, lunch arrived and our coffee corner made out of Jerzy's last year pavilion parts served greatly as a bench ...
What a first great day and after the dust settled and the students went home we took a peak into a nearby DIY store to get some parts, our Dr. Bucky Lab directly found a new tool for the shop ...and learned that the traffic lights in Poland have a countdown till the red light turns green and a timer that shows how long it will stay green, how convenient !
this blog is dedicated to the Bucky Lab from the TU Delft faculty of Architecture. Within the mastercourse we design, develop and at the end build architecture and building construction related prototypes. Its a "get your hands dirty" approach in which the students learn how to translate concepts from sketch into working prototypes. We try to live the spirit of buckminster fuller: what ever you can imagine, you can also build!
