Nguyen Binh Minh - graduation project inspired by the Bucky Lab

Back then in 2021 Minh joined the Bucky Lab Architecture studio and redesigned a Mario Botta building with cow dung stones as part of our redesigning architectural icons...

The group of Francisco, Laurent and Tolga redesigned the Sainsbury Center for Visual Arts using old windmill blades… and that approach partly made an impact on Minh that he took these decommissioned windmill blades and started to think about what he could do with them...

Actually, it kept him thinking so far that he dedicated his graduation project to it and developed an entire vocabulary of structures and ideas on how to reuse these blades that are usually worthless after their end of use on a windmill, showing a strategy to expand their lifetime to 90-180 years.

Back then Olga Ioannou and Tillmann Klein were the circularity and facade experts in our studio, and they also advised him with his graduation project.

We ran into Minh during the circularity award - where he was nominated and were amazed about the effort and work he did and finally put into a wonderful book. Enough to share here - later when the project is freed from its embargo we will share more of the work.
